The Trick-tionary

Youtube is a wonderful resource for learning new tricks. But after a while can get frustrating searching for that video you watched just the other day but suddenly can’t seem to find. Since I’d much rather be out riding than sitting in front of the computer searching fruitlessly, I started keeping a list.

I call it ‘The Trick-tionary’.

This list isn’t exhaustive, so if you’ve filmed or found a video for a trick which isn’t on the list, please leave a link to the video in the comment section below and I’ll add it to the list. Have fun riding, remember what mother used to say (“It’s the car you don’t see that kills you!”), and Wear Your Helmet!

Nothing beats a good cross-step. It’s the best place to start learning and really improves your balance. After that, just start picking tricks you want to learn and go from there. 🙂

    Cross Legged Lady Killer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QTHoUKZrZ0
You cross your legs like in the middle of a Cross Step, then carve and slide your board 180 degrees. All you need to do now is to pivot your feet and you’ll be riding in the same stance as in the beginning, but without your legs being crossed.

  15. 180°er?

    August 31, 2011 at 10:18

Hi guys, I’m looking for a trick but I don’t know its name. It is a rather simple one where you use your backfoot to turn your board 180° by sticking it under the board and kicking it. I do not know however what to do exactly with the frontfoot for I’m not able to keep on the board, while doing that. That’s why I’m looking for an explanation on what to do with the frontfoot but I can’t find any since I don’t know the name/a video/a site that explains it.

I want to learn how to do one or the other. I don’t live near a local skate board shop or skate board park either. I live in an apartment area with a fair amount of ledges and steep roads and straight roads though. How much should a longboard cost? How much should a skate board cost? Is it necessary to buy the helmet and pads to wear really? Which one is easier, or which one is more worth it. Is it ok if I buy a board online?

The Landyatchz Holofoil Stratus 46 is absolutely beautiful and is really fun to dance on I just got mine yesterday and it’s great it is a little tricky because it’s 45.5 inches in length and I’m 5 ft 2in so I’m sure people will get a kick out of that. But it’s a really fun board I started dancing about 3 weeks ago and it’s a really fun board!
